critique of current monotheism:
islam: the islamists say how great and mighty allah is, but where do most moslems live other than in squalor? has allah shown his favor to any islamic country any time lately?
judaism: they have a nation which is arguably jewish. they have a priest sect who refuses to serve in the armed forces. they are beseiged and constantly in a 'low-intensity conflict.'
christianity: europe has pretty much abandoned it, and the u.s. with its burgeoning welfare state is well on the way.
i would say that currently the monotheists as a whole are all doing a fairly piss-poor job of manifesting their respective faiths.
afghanistan: now that we can insert whatever we want into 80% of the country, i say get the titty bars in there pronto. make it a DRUG zone and charge u.s. tourists money to visit the blitzed out and sexed out locals.
in afghanistan make it 'no alcohol' but with plenty of mushrooms, mdma (ecstasy), weed, prozac, lsd... whatever...
and of course, get the led zeppelin, foghat, leo sayer, anita ward, parliament, kiss, bootsie's rubber band, and all of that in there...
say, if we made afghanistan like that wouldn't it resemble guantanomo bay during its heyday as an american base?
interesting tidbit: was working at an internet startup, and told islamic office mate i hoped GOD was going to be with the company. he looked incredulous and said that GOD doesn't favor organizations or countries like that; that all of that makes no difference to GOD.
american christians are fond of saying how GOD has blessed america. I guess moslems get a little touchy when that sort of talk gets started... because it's been hundreds of years since there's been a moslem country living in peace and prosperity.
the 'christian' nation of the u.s. is a more recent phenomenon.
of course the u.s. is no longer at peace, and 'prosperity' is the sound of a giant popping bubble.
immigration: immigration is a hot topic, and i talk to immigrants every day. i work with a married couple from el salvador. they replaced a different couple. (i've got to say - those el salvadorians are a great looking bunch of people).
my boss is mexican. he has lived here for 10 years and speaks decent english.
there is a russian woman i see now and then.
the people i work with are hard-working, decent folk; and they're good looking and listen to great music.
i think we should let the people from the americas (mexico, el salvador, etc.) stay and send many of the others (russian, pakistani, etc.) home.
here's an idea: we could press certain immigrants to be in a u.s. army infantry outfit; the 'airborne storm division.' they could drop in ahead of any major american assault.
any surviving veteran of that outfit would be granted u.s. citizenship after the war.
we should also do that with all terrorist suspects; automatically press them into an airborne infantry division in order that they should prove their loyalty to the u.s.
give them rudimentary jump lessons, then hype them up with dexidrine and mushrooms, and drop them in behind enemy lines.
tell them that all of the booty they can get is theirs to keep.
now that would be 'old-school' war in my book.
one last thing: maybe the AARP members could join a mineclearing battalion and do their part... find the old guys from ww2 who actually remember having liked it, and send them back in one last time.
