Mr Mark Aplas reports
Following success on the first phase of underground work, Omni Resources, as
operator, is accelerating its $4 million work commitment on the Goddell shear.
Underground crews are currently extending the 2,000 ft decline by 600 ft to the
east and establishing drill stations at 165 ft intervals. The second phase of drilling is
expected to begin at the end of June. The initial holes will further test the section
where hole 97-41 intercepted 174 ft of 0.20 oz/t gold, including 106 ft of 0.299
or 48 ft of 0.594 oz/t gold. The first phase of underground drilling established a
strike length of 800 ft. This second phase of drilling hopes to extend the
mineralization within the shear an additional 600 ft to the east. The shear is open to
the east and west as well as to depth.
The 1997 program will also include surface drilling on at least two targets south of
the Goddell Shear.
Arkona has received the third payment on the Goddell property with the fourth
and final payment of $120,000 expected by the end of this year. Arkona is now
well financed with a working capital of over $1.1 million or $0.16 per share.
Arkona has minimal overhead and no present demands on the treasury.
