Agilent Techologies (A: news, chart, profile) reported a fourth-quarter pro-forma loss of $275 million, or 60 cents a share. Revenue came in at $1.6 billion. The results matched Wall Street's expectations. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based chip testing company also said it would cut 4,000 jobs in order to return to profitability. Agilent posted a pro-forma profit of $328 million, or 72 cents per share, in the same period a year ago. Looking ahead, Agilent anticipates a Q1 2002 per-share loss between 40 cents to 60 cents. Shares of Agilent closed down 28 cents to $25.03 ahead of the news.
