wbmw, my Bench is written in Delphi 5 which optimizes code reasonably well. It uses some DLLS for which I do not have the source and I don't know what language/tool they were written with.

Benching those computers was easy since my bench is self contained. You copy it in a directory, run it and it spits out a number.

To illustrate the point that I made in my previous post about cost of upgrading, we tried compiling this bench in Delphi 6 which has some P4 optimizations and guess what? The software is not running correctly anymore. The amount of work to qualify Delphi 6 is enormous and won't happen for months.

p.s. You may be correct about the improvement after a recompile ( even though your percentages look high to me ). My point is that it is too expensive. The transition of corporate software to the P4 architecture will take years.
