LOL, I have to keep putting it into perspective.

Have to keep reminding myself how extremely lucky I was in 1998-99 with my trades. Put all my non RRSP money into one IPO and went camping for a week. Came back to find it had gone from 22$ to 50$. It now trades at 47 cents (HSAC). Microforum went from 2.5 to 11 dollars in a week and I had my entire RRSP riding on it. Not a particularly intelligent strategy, but you could get away with things like that then. Ask me about Infowave sometime.

It's a different world today. Newbies and the lazy (that's me) get crushed. But it still beats buy and hold strategies. I have composed a plot of the Dow in inflation adjusted (1966) dollars. Guess how much the market has gone up 1966-2000 in constant dollars.

The answer is Wall Street's dirty secret (actually, they have a lot of dirty secrets).
