Corporate greed is the No. 1 reason why the economy is sputtering. Too many companies went for the quick buck during the go-go '90s instead of growing their businesses the old-fashioned way. Unable to sustain double-digit annual earnings increases, said companies then resorted to smoke and mirrors in the late '90s to bring home the bacon. Eventually, the corporate house of cards started collapsing.

The Republican plan to stimulate the economy is to give billions of dollars back to these same morally bankrupt companies in hopes that some of this money will trickle down to Joe Worker and he, in turn, will spend-spend-spend.

How many years did we officially have a "budget surplus"? One? Two? How many years till we see such again? Forty? Fifty? Never?
