My travels were uneventful and, dare I say it, actually quite convenient this week. Airports included O'Hare, Dallas (twice), and a smaller regional airport in the South. My longest wait in a security line was about five minutes, though I didn't have to go through security at DFW since I only switched planes there. One of the planes was three quarters empty, two were about one third empty, and the last one was about 90 percent full. Given how deserted DFW and O'Hare were, I would say that the commercial aviation industry cannot survive at the current levels of travel for more than a few months. This was the day after the NY crash, which may have caused cancellations.

One thing I noticed is that virtually every nonwhite person, and every single nonwhite male, was pulled aside at the gate for an extra security check. I never even had my bag searched or opened.

The family is travelling next week, the Wednesday and Monday of Thanksgiving weekend, which are traditionally bad at airports. So I'll report more after that.
