News/Current Events Source: KOBTV Last updated: 11/15/2001 19:11:53 ALBUQUERQUE, NM Two separate Southwest Airlines jets were forced to make emergency landings at the Albuquerque International Sunport on Thursday. The first, Southwest Flight 1764, was en route from Las Vegas, NV to Baltimore when pilots reported they had lost one of their engines. The plane was diverted to Albuquerque where it landed safely around 11:50 a.m. The landing was carried live on Eyewitness News 4. The Boeing 737 jet carried 133 passengers. There were no reports of injuries. The second Southwest Airlines jet blew a tire during takeoff from the Sunport shortly before 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening. That flight was forced to turn around immediately. It also landed safely without incident. The second flight's destination was not immediately known. Sunport spokesperson Maggie Santiago said the morning emergency landing did not affect traffic in and out of the airport.
