Well I can laugh about this now that the nightmare is over.

These photos are the basement (common) area of an apartment near Washington DC (where I used to be a tenant).

It took the 'threat' that I would notify the County health department before the manager took any action

Warning: these pictures are rather gross so if you have a weak stomach you are better off not looking.

The dark area on the carpet is wet with raw sewage. The reason this 'spill' occurred was when they fixed it before, they apparently took a fruit shopping bag and taped it over the pipe opening. then they stuffed the bag in the pipe and sealed it all with a lot of duct tape.

It's amusing because the whole time I was there, the managers never seemed to care about the tenants and they never realized that perhaps if they put their money back in, the place might improve a bit.

I complained for months of not having a front door that would open with any regularity and it finally took a call to the county chief of the fire department before they decided to fix the door. there are lots of other stories about this place. I'm just glad i'm out of there.
