hi m
bit of a difference, don't you think, between the need for a musician to master the straight face test and the need for a lawyer to do the same?
btw, sometime i must tell you about the faux pas of a character witness in one of our local superior court trials not too long ago.
oh all right, i'll tell you now. <g3>
long story short, a local native american was on trial for one felony or another, i remember not which. as the tale goes, the defendant was really looking guilty, despite all of his emphatic pleas of innocence, and all he basically had left to pin his hopes on was the testimony of his friend, as a character witness.
so the friend gets on the stand and immediately begins to refer to the defendant by the name that he is known as in the indian community.... walking eagle. he didn't get very far into the testimony before the defense counsel stopped him and asked why he was calling the defendant walking eagle.
the character witness, who, you'll recall, is all that the defendant has left, replies...
"oh, we call him walking eagle because he's too full of shit to fly".
:)
