It has indeed been tremendously successful. I am really not sure yet how much this has to do with color displays more than data services, but if you put the right tool in a consumers hands they will use it for data.

Well...we definitely agree on that. The public is ready for these types of services, they just need the right device and the right applications. The reports still seem to say that consumers are buying the GPRS handsets more for their features (Bluetooth, color) than for the data network itself. I am hoping that Nokia's next generation of networks changest that. The European operators NEED an uptake in data....it would also give a big boost for 3G.

Some numbers from Korea....pages 21 and 22 give the proportion of color 1x subscribers and their data ARPU.
