Ah, the Intel scam machine at work:

When anandtech compared the two chips, using the same Microstation benchmark, they got similar results for Dual Xeon 1.7 (4.25 vs. 4.43) but Athlon 1.2 produced a 5.72, while game PC only got a 5.79 from an Athlon 1.53.

When Anandtech tested these two platforms using the same benchmarks, the dual processor systems were faster than the single processor systems on Microstation. GamePC's bizarre configuration produced substantially slower scores for dual processors on Microstation and SPEC scores.

Microsoft C++ 5.0 came out in 1997 and was quickly replaced in 1998 by C++ 6.0 when 5.0 had "issues", but gamePC followed Intel's orders to use a 5.0 benchmark when no one else has used anything but 6.0 for years - here's why
               Visual   Visual
C++ 5.0 C++ 6.0
Athlon 1.2 ... 16.9
Athlon 1.53 9.09 ...
Xeon 1.7 14.4 14.7

Intel's distortion machine is running full time, trying to cheat consumers out of honest information. The mis-configuration of the machines GamePC (with Intel help, I'm sure) was too obvious, they should be more subtle next time.
