Bruce, I've seen too many like him to have that sort of confidence. Many of my colleagues during the "Me" 80s blast off in the market made huge money, but the spending binges and the debts they racked up were larger. After the 87 mini-crash, many of them fell on really hard times. There was one portfolio manager who was on my peer list (we ranked 15 peers to compare rankings for bonus purposes) who was working at a dry cleaners the last time I heard from him. And I have respect for the guy. At least he got a job of some sort. Many others were so shell shocked and still full of themselves that they are letting either family or govt. take care of their basic needs.

The joke with the current batch is that their fussball machines are selling for a song. The joke in my day was that you could buy a Porsche cheap if you didn't mind a model where the speedometer registered "relative performance." <G>
