I don't put little credence to prophesies from India. They are too pesismistic and their paranoia with Pakistan has not allowed them to see a clear picture. Some had predicted WWIII would come out from this operation. On the other hand, Musharraf appears much more pragmatic.

Afghanistan may want to stand on their own feet, and stay away from ricidulous alliances with any of their neighbors who had kept them in misery in the past 10 years, even after good riddance of the Russians. At least for now, I am giving credit for their choice of ally and big brother.

Can anyone realize how much credibility and support Afghanistan will receive from American public? After all, they had same former common antagonist Russia, and the same common perpetrator in O&O Talebans. Support will be whole hearted and enormous.

No more cocaine and heroin as economic base. Economic development, including agricultural, mining, hydroelectric power and oil industry. Grants for US education. Any US aid will go a long way in Afghanistan, primarily because corruption is minor and not yet heavily entrenched in the government system.

Afghanistan neighboring vultures should be on the edge of their seats and worry. They will have one fewer neighbor to take advantage of.
