Beamer - Re: "will it stand up to Hammer, once Hammer gets on .09u? "

Hamster hasn't got to TAPE OUT - let alone to 0.13 micron - let alone to 0.13 micorn SOI - let alone to 0.09 micron SOI.

Remember - Hamster is going to need a HUMONGOUS infrastructure support of chip sets (YES - it has on-board memory control but it needs all the other chip set functions), motherboards, and BIOS software support (for simple 32 bit compatability). AMD and its partners have come up short EVERY TIME on EVERY ISSUE relating to infrastructure support.

For 64 bit capability, AMD's Hamster has about as much chance as the Taliban has of a near term victory in Afghanistan !

Re: "a higher IPC machine like Hammer"

From the technical disclosure of Hamster, the only major improvement I saw was the on-board memory controller - for reduced latency.

I could detect no other significant architectural enhanceents.
