I can see that. The huge sale-induced car sale data would support just that. Remember, most people don't NEED a new car...everyone but the bottom tier can get just one more year out of the ol' jalopy. Yet the zero financing sales were just the nudge that people needed to "feel good" and splurge for new wheels. I could see that being extrapolated to Xmas sales.
