I read that you borrowed the premise from a talk show. IMO borrowing someone else's hateful and divisive idea is no excuse.

I was not making an excuse. Merely giving proper credit to an idea I found amusing. IMO, it is neither hateful nor divisive. I think that Peace Nazis/demolib hypocrites like Glover, et al. deserve full credit for their cockeyed and anti-American bleatings. Sunlight is often the best disinfectant. I will never watch another Glover film. I think he is a despicable hypocrite.

Moreover, I have faith in not only the Constitution but in the vast majority of people who live in this country. Bush, Ashcroft and others in the Admin. are doing their jobs as best they know how under very difficult circumstances. I support them 100% but not in all that they do. For instance, I think Bush was wrong about airline security and the deal worked out in the Congress is fine with me. They may make mistakes but one of the the nice things about the US and our system of governance is that even mistakes can usually be worked out. I think Ashcroft is mistaken about allowing eavesdropping but I know from my confidence in the judicial branch that his proposal is a dead letter Constitutionally. If the feds fail us, I know my state Constitution will protect those rights. I suspect most do.

I have seen no proposal to suspend the Courts in our country. I have seen the Bush Administration's order allowing for military tribunals. I see very powerful reasons for favoring such bodies over civilian Courts. I also acknowledge that while tribunals are different from civilian courts, the UCMJ under which they operate still provide significant procedural and substantive safeguards to a defendant. We are at war. IMO, in time of war, we must be willing to compromise our freedom to a certain degree to insure that we do not lose it altogether.
