<< 90% of the functionality out of something that is FREE? >>

First of all, this stuff isn't free unless you want to wait for a 4 day download. I finally got a guy from work to bring in his Linux and Star Office disks so I can try them out for "free". Trust me, I would MUCH rather pay a hundred bucks and avoid the embarrassment, hassle and time delay involved with bugging someone to let me use their "free" software.

In the interest of my Linux experiment I am proceeding along this "free" path of installation to see how it goes. So far, it's taken two weeks and has involved bothering a coworker. This is not the choice I would make in the future. I will "buy" software, you can bet on it.

Second, the extra 10% is why people buy a product. I pay a bit more to have leather in my cars. I pay a bit more to have a larger TV. I pay a bit more to have a slightly smaller cell phone. If you think most people will pay a bit less in order to get a 90% product, you are wrong.

IMO,
Dave
