I mean that the same principle operates in relation to intimacy among heterosexuals and homosexuals as operates when contemplating certain co- ed activities. There is no "screen" causing homosexuals to fixate only on other homosexuals. In my experience, most of the gay friends I had ended up hitting on me at some point, despite supposedly understanding that I was not gay, and not interested. As with heterosexuals, once an attraction is formed, it is not unusual to rationalize ("he is really gay") and attempt to seduce someone. This generates a lot of problems that same sex activities were meant to avoid, in the first place. Additionally, people are rarely just gay or just straight, they are more or less on a continuum. Thus, the possibility of seducing someone basically straight, and causing emotional turmoil, is ever- present......
