I think calling someone a coward is one of the worst things you can call a person.
I am not sure there is any reason to call someone that. I do not see the purpose.
You can disapprove of actions without calling people names. You can set out rational reasons why people should behave the way you want them to without resorting to invective. In fact, invective actually lessons your effectiveness with people who don't already see your point. If you want to preach to the choir, that kind of language works, I suppose. It whips up emotion for whatever "side" you happen to be on. But for any other purpose, it probably does not work very well.
