I think a coward is normally one who shows fear in the face of danger. It is not someone who merely holds political positions we do not like. Pacifists are often very brave people. People who take a liberal (and possibly overly idealistic) stand about other people, people who do not live in this country and who might wish us harm, are not cowards, even under the definition. You could, if you did not agree with them, say that their policies are misguided. You could say that their ideas about peace are naive because force does have to be used in some situations.

You could say that actions were cowardly if you were talking about actions. But you weren't- you called the man a coward. Perhaps you feel now it was a mistake to call him a coward? After all you don't know him. You may even be wrong about his action or actions. It is always difficult to know what motivates other people.

As for Osama I think he employs means of terror to achieve his ends. If people want to call him a terrorist that is their business. I think it oversimplifies the issue, myself. Labels usually do facilitate oversimplification, it is part of their charm I think.
