Number of New Wireless Alerts Users Across Carrier Partners Who Deployed Baseball Playoff Alerts Service Rose Sharply During Month of Oct.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2001-- InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq:INSP - news), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, today announced that the company's baseball playoff SMS alerts service deployed with leading wireless carrier partners helped to increase the numbers of new alerts users across carriers who deployed the service by more than 35 percent during Oct.

The baseball playoff alerts is the second deployment, after March Madness alerts campaign earlier this year, of InfoSpace's initiative to provide carrier partners with special SMS alert campaigns around seasonal and one-time events. These services offer carriers an opportunity to drive traffic, acquire new subscribers and enliven their services with timely, exciting campaigns. InfoSpace carrier partners who deployed InfoSpace's March Madness alerts program saw alerts usage increase by as much as 58 percent.

InfoSpace's wireless SMS alerts service allows mobile phone subscribers to schedule the delivery of personalized updates of the information most relevant to them to their mobile phone. InfoSpace offers the ability for users to provision and personalize their alerts from any phone by simply using their voice to answer simple questions and navigate menus or by accessing an intuitive user interface on an Internet-enabled PC, mobile handset or PDA.
