Savage victory
The cruelty is shocking, the barbarity that of animals, not men. Paul McGeough in Taloqan finds little hope for the people of Afghanistan.
" Another tank commander, Farid, bragged to a CBS TV crew that he had killed 27 Taliban fighters. Asked for details of the battle, he volunteered a story that was a gross abuse of human rights and of the so-called rules of war. He said: "We injured them. So we pulled them out of the trenches and lined them up on the ground and we drove the tank over them."
