I do not think it is fair to compare this current market with the fall 1998 market as some are. The economic conditions are far different now in the US. At that time there was a crisis that did not materially effect the US and Europe all that much. The economy of the US was still growing, and everything was rosy.

Not so right now. The news is bleak, the future is uncertain,>>>>

There was a lot of uncertainty in nov 99, and the US economy did have a downtick in the 3q99, and a lot of pundits thought the US would join asia in the economic quagmire.

there are a lot of differences, but the one similarity is the utter and complete destruction of bullish sentiment, in both fall 98 and fall 01 at the bottom, finding a bull, was like looking for osama in a cave in afghanistan.

well maybe the reversion to the mean, between new-era/new economy and TEOTWAWKI, will be kind to me because i finally joined the bears because i started erroneously shorting last wednesday, and i'll get a decent pullback here to get out of harms way -gg-
