Vodafone is understood to have selected Motorola, Matsushita and Nokia as its 3G handset suppliers, according to a report in Der Spiegel, German weekly magazine. The report also said that Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Siemens were all negotiating for a contract to supply 3G handsets to T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom subsidiary. However, Siemens denied that it had lost the Vodafone contract, insisting that negotiations were still ongoing. If the report is correct, it suggests that SonyEriccson has failed to become a major supplier to either T-Mobile or Vodafone, dealing a significant blow to its share of the European market. <<
