Well, I, personally, do not know the precise mechanism by which the Sun radiates heat. Alternative explanations can be - that in its centre subatomic particles are crashed into each other at immense pressure, fuse and give off gamma radiation, which is weakened to IR as it passes through the outer layers of the sun. - that a giant invisible pixie is blowing on a really, really big piece of magically hot everlasting coal, because he likes us and doesn't want us to get cold.
