I would not argue with physics ;-)

I agree, it is fascinating. If we assume that
the transistor shrink into new feature size is done
in accord with proper scientific scaling, and
then apply the principle of continuity, it seems
that AMD has much better chances to contain the leakage.
I am basing this on the current Athlon leakage data as
a starting point.

The bottom line of excessive leakage is that this
diminishes potential advances in design frequency,
since all improvements may become bounded by thermal
envelop for the ever shrinking chip area. With all
implication to managerial roadmaps, and hence investing.
