The general formula for momentum is:

Mn = P - Pn where:

P is the latest settlement price
Pn is the settlement price of n-days ago
The momentum line behaves in the following ways:

When the line is above zero:

- a rising line means the uptrend is getting stronger
- a level line means the uptrend is holding steady
- a falling line means the uptrend is fading
When the line is equal to zero: - the trend is exactly sideways

When the line is below zero: - a falling line means the downtrend is getting stronger - a level line means the downtrend is holding steady - a rising line means the downtrend is fading

Trading Uses

Momentum can be used as a technical indicator in much the same way as the moving average oscillator is used.

Right but the POG -Price of GOLD is all that matters now UP 15 cents today after STAGNATION: ONLY the indexex in North America that are RESOUCE are up today all OTHERS down in US and Canada
