I'm trying not to assume facts. To my knowledge, the terrorists had all sorts of fake i.d.'s that they didn't need or use. Why they got them is beyond me. If anybody knows just how they were needed and used, I wish they'd enlighten me. It doesn't take a pilot's license to drag a pilot out of the seat of a plane by force. It's my understanding (maybe incorrect) that the 9.11 terrorists could have entered the U.S. on valid student visas, taken flying lessons as foreign citizens, and done what they did without all the rigamarole of fraudulent i.d.'s. They might not even have known that. I might even be wrong. Using Sec. Rumsfeld's point of view (paraphrasing): We can't harden and defend all the potential targets here at home, and even if we could, it would impose untenable restrictions on our freedoms. The terrorists would win. Therefore, we have to take the battle to them and interdict them before they get here. Anyway, I gotta go do some other things in a couple minutes. This is cutting into my day job :)
