Why is it too bad? I function quite will in a rather diverse set of cultures every day. I expect others to have different value systems and am totally accepting of their value systems, right up to the point that they try to force theirs on me. Do you believe that my tax money should be used for public education? Do you believe that my tax money should be used for health services for other people? Do you believe that my tax money should be used to fund retirement benefits for others? Do you believe that my tax money should be used for welfare for others? Do you believe that my tax money should go to support NEA grants? Do you believe that my tax money should go to aid other nations? I don't. And my value system says that I don't have any right to force you or anybody (through taxation) to support these things. So where I do think that my value system is best for everyone, I am adamant about not forcing it on others. But I wonder how serious you are about not expecting everyone to have your value system or that it wouldn't be right for everyone.
