How about the dude out of prison on work release at the local A&P that see's your DL to verify a check you wrote?

My response was based on my previous post, to which you replied, which stated that I don't write checks. I charge everything or pay cash. The only way someone sees my driver's license is if I get stopped while driving, which hasn't happened once in my 41 years of driving, or if I rent a car or board an airplane, both of which occur rarely. Or if my purse is stolen. I'm not worried that the person who is handing me my boarding pass will have the capacity to remember my SSN from a quick glance for later use, particularly if I put my finger over the SSN when I present it for inspection.

I realized that different people have different circumstances and what works for me would not necessarily work for everyone. If there's a point to this, it's only that there isn't anything inherently dangerous about having one's SSN on one's driver's license.

I probably wouldn't suffer from PMing you my SSN, either, but I'm sure you'll understand my not doing so. <g>
