Hi Jeff Roberts; Re: "PM me your number and in less the a couple of hours I can hose your financial life to the point that it would take you years to fix it."

This is the situation that we already find ourselves in. In other words, without national IDs this is the situation we already have. And because that social security number is used to identify your various bank accounts, it's available all over the place. This is the situation we have now!

How's this for a solution: We get national ID cards, and when we apply for our card, we get to check off a box that requires anyone pretending to be us to show up in person with our ID card. With such a check mark, we could prevent our identities from being stolen over the mail or telephone. Alternatively, you could leave the box unchecked and keep the situation we have now, where anyone who steals your mail is in a perfect position to steal your identity, especially in another state.

Having 50 different state governments issuing 50 different identity documents has left this country with an identity fraud problem that the rest of the world laughs at. Why are we letting this go on?
