We've been informed that some aspects of our war on terror would be "secret". Perhaps casualty figures, in view of their tremendous impact on public opinion, have become classified.

We have been told of 4 U.S. casualties from various mishaps in theatre, and the highly speculative Debka service last night reported 30-35 U.S. casualties, citing "reliable sources".

Remember, Secretary Rumsfeld was adamant that he would not lie to the press corps, and thus the public, in his briefings. He did not, however, state that he would tell all.
