The U.S. put Saddam in power, propped him up for decades, refused to depose him after pushing him out of Kuwait, helped him crush a rebellion shortly afterwards, etc. Chomsky viciously criticizes these actions. The U.S. created and nurtured the Islamic terrorist networks that Bin Ladin is now running. Chomsky criticizes that, too.
Chomsky couldn't have done much better himself - almost everything in this paragraph is at best a twisted half-truth or at worst an outright lie. The US did not put Saddam in power. Did not prop him up for decades. Did not help him crush a rebellion shortly after the Gulf war (though didn't actively prevent him from doing it). What is most dishonest here is that you make Chomsky sound anti-Saddam - as if he wanted the US to depose Saddam. Deposing Saddam would have meant continuing the Gulf war, which he was adamantly opposed to - as he is opposed to everything the US does, has ever done, or is.
Continuing, the US did not create and nurture any Islamic terrorist network (though did help the Afghan resistance - not a terrorist movement - against the USSR's invasion and occupation).
You should be ashamed at yourself for posting that kind of garbage. . . What the hell is your problem?
Spoken like an outraged disciple of a religious cult whose guru/messiah has been slammed. What's the name of your religion anyway -Chomskyism?
Want to know who I think should be ashamed of posting garbage? Hint - it's not Carolyn. |
