Actually, I am one of the worst students of my religion, without learning those 400 chapters, "they" would not let me in the gates at the University. In Israel, where I was raised, the matriculation (a prerequisite to acceptance to the University) requires passing a major exam on the old testament... Frankly, when I get into a discussion of the scriptures with a truly learned man, like any Rabbi, I am red with shame of my ignorance of the scriptures.
