TASER International Announces That 1,000 Law Enforcement Agencies Now Deploy the ADVANCED TASER M26
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2001--TASER® International Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR - news), a provider of advanced less-lethal weapons for use in the law enforcement, private security, and personal defense markets, Tuesday reported it had signed its 1,000th law enforcement agency this past week.

Below are some significant agencies that have purchased and are currently either field testing or deploying the ADVANCED TASER M26:

``We are extremely gratified to reach this important milestone in our company history since our very first ADVANCED TASER was delivered in December 1999,'' said Rick Smith, chief executive officer. ``This translates into adding approximately 40 new law enforcement agencies every month. Law enforcement agencies are some of the most skeptical buyers in the world and will only take proven equipment.

``This is a great achievement and a powerful validation for our company over the past 23 months of sales of the M26. What's even more exciting is that we have barely scratched the surface when you look at the overall market potential of the 18,000 plus law enforcement agencies in the United States. Fortunately, we are either in field test or are deploying the M26 with most of the opinion leaders in law enforcement.

``These 1,000 agencies include approximately 20 that have deployed the M26 on every police officer, such as Sacramento, Albuquerque and Reno police departments, where every patrol officer carries both a firearm as well as the M26.

``About 200 of these 1,000 agencies are evaluating the M26, a number that has remained fairly constant over the past six months as law enforcement agencies convert from their test and evaluation to deployment and new agencies start their evaluation and field test,'' continued Smith.

``We are particularly pleased that over 1,000 field reports of actual uses on file of the M26 proves the weapon is achieving a 93 percent effectiveness ratio, a number that has never before been achieved by any weapon on which effectiveness data has been collected,'' said Smith.

``The successful penetration of the law enforcement agencies in combination with the recent commitment by United Airlines to arm their aircraft crews with the ADVANCED TASER M26, places TASER International in an excellent position to address the consumer markets for self defense.

``We intend to formally announce and introduce the ADVANCED TASER M18/M18L for consumer use at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January 2002,'' continued Smith.
