Jerome,
Bush will be ultimately judged by what happens after the war, just like Pop. I think he is very cognizant of the facts that caused his dads defeat and wont repeat them. Of course there could be different significant mistakes to be made. Below is a summary of things to come imo(at least for the day):
1. bin laden dies before christmas and el quaida decimeated using those contreversial military courts
2. no attack on iraq
3. move to the middle domestically and the jettisoning of delay and army
4. 2 years to make US virtually immune to organized terror
5. force fed peace in mideast with exchange of territory for recognition of the israeli state by all regimes in the neighborhood including syria who gives up terror for golan and iran who reenters the family of nations--(not incl iraq)
6. 2 year pressure on iraq both in north by kurds and turks and in south by shiites and rebels leading ultimately to sadams downfall(longer shot than the others)
7. if all this works well bush wins reeelection by landslide
