That comment was a killer for me. I got stung with a bunch of puts, which I'd held on the basis of his comments.
Anyway, last year was interesting from this personal standpoint (which may be somewhat indicative of behavior this year): I needed a new computer last year and kept looking and looking, and watched prices keep falling. As a result, I've held out until last week. What has happened is a realization that prices may not get higher, but they are unlikely to get lower anytime soon. In addition, I don't think you'll get alot more for the same money in the near future. The upgrade cycle has been delayed due to economic difficulties, and then extended a bit more due to recent uncertainties. But I think it's about to begin again. As a result, I (gulp)jumped in and finally purchased a new computer. 1.7 GHz with 128 RDRAM and all the bells and whistles...... Since it's configured to handle 2G RDRAM, I have lots of room to grow and it should last a minimum of 4-5 years. Possibly I'll squeeze another 7 out of it. 7 was a tough enough squeeze with this one (133 MHz PI with 64M RAM). |
