I finally have a home for my Samsung CC notes <g>.....from the 3rd Q '01.

Message 16538338

Some notes from the Samsung CC....the accents are a little difficult to understand so I hope I got all of the numbers right. If anyone has access to a brokerage report on Samsung's quarter there might be some numbers that I am missing.
Also....I think that somewhere between 40-50% of Samsung's sales are GSM, so the numbers are not all from CDMA.

samsungelectronics.com.

- The highlight for the call was the margins in the handset division. They wouldnt break out the exact number....but said that the handset division had higher margins than the overall telecom division. The telecom division had margins of 16.4%. Samsung's margins are closing in on Nokia....

- GSM sales surged due to new models.

- They sold 1.5m 1x handsets during the quarter. The ASP on 1x handsets was 50% higher than for 2G handsets.

- The domestic ASP was $319,000 Won ($244).....export ASP was $176. The domestic ASP was actually lower than I would have thought. I listened a couple of times and I think I got the number right.

- A geographical breakdown of handset sales

Korea 27%
North America/South America 22%
Europe 25%
Asia (ex China) 15%
China 10%

- They expect sales of 410-420m units next year.
