You did skim. Poet has only supported our military policy in Afghanistan. She has never dissented from it. The implication is that she dissed our troops. In fact, she not only didn't do that, she didn't even diss our military response, she supports it.

Why would I label his position just? It isn't. It was unjust. It was a fantasy scenario in which Poet was the villain and he was the knight on a white horse riding to the defense of his son. Whom Poet had never made negative inferences about. Nor had she made negative inferences about the cause for which CH's son was fighting.

You are finding this hard to credit because it is hard to credit.
