From a 300 billion dollar surplus to a 100+ dollar deficit is one helluva swing. Now tell me; do our elected representatives lie to us or are they just plain stupid? I for one was watching the public debt daily, and never fell for that surplus crap, but apparently most "investors" did. If we could not generate a surplus anytime during the prosperous '90's, under what conditions would a surplus be possible? Even the god, AG, was spouting that surplus line. These boys are no different than Goebels (spelling?) in his day.
