>>The shots kept coming in the dressing room, too, with Karl Malone and Nets coach Byron Scott exchanging barbs about their shoving match late in the first half that resulted in double technicals.

Malone pushed Scott twice with a stiffarm after each stepped in to break up a scuffle between Kenyon Martin and John Crotty. After the game, Scott said Malone "has no heart."

"Malone don't scare me. ... He's a man, just like I am. I don't back down to anybody. He doesn't, and he knows it. We played them a lot of times. I know what he's all about," Scott said.

The Mailman answered by mocking Scott's job as a role player with the Los Angeles Lakers during the championship days of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and said Scott doesn't deserve to be an NBA coach.

"If I was willing to ride other guys' coattails, I'd probably have me a couple of rings," Malone said, a few of the remarks that could be printed. "But I'll tell you what, I'm not getting on my knees for anybody."<<
