SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2001--Occam Networks Inc., developer of scalable, cost-effective, packet-based voice and broadband local loop solutions, Thursday announced the opening of its third research and development center located at 1318 Redwood Way in Petaluma, Calif.

The new facility houses a team of hardware and software engineers focused on developing the company's Broadband Loop Carriers, a new category of local loop products that integrate the functionality of a Digital Loop Carrier (DLC), a DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), and a media gateway into a single environmentally hardened compact platform that can be easily located in remote terminals.

"Occam selected Petaluma, the heart of the Telecom Valley, because it is a hotbed of telecommunications activity," said Kumar Shah, president and chief executive officer of Occam Networks. "There is a large, experienced talent pool from which we can draw, enabling us to accommodate the rapid growth we have projected."

Ali Taslimi, senior director of engineering and general manager, heads the new R&D facility. The company is actively recruiting hardware and software engineers for the Petaluma R&D center. Interested parties may submit resumes to Occam via email at jobs@occamnetworks.com or via fax at 805/692-6739.
