Celestica cuts 250 more jobs
By InBusiness Media Network staff

Celestica Inc. has cut 250 more positions as part of its program to trim the workforce by up to 30 per cent before the end of the year.

The Toronto-based maker of electronic components made these cuts at plants in Portsmouth, N.H. and Lowell, Mass. These plants made optical-networking parts for firms such as Cisco Systems Inc. [Harry: Anyone know what CSCO was having made at these plants? Businesss can not be good in these segments.]

These locations will be closed, and the remaining 350 employees will be moved to a plant owned by Cisco in Salem, N.H. Celestica said it would hire 120 of Cisco's workers to work at this plant.

Last month, Celestica said it had cut about 6,200 of the 8,200 jobs it was aiming to eliminate.
