Amein, it appears many think Christianity and Islam are compatible in that each believes they are serving the one true God. But let's stop for a moment and reflect, are they really similar?

Consider, the following is one of the 5 pillars of the Islamic faith and I believe those who cannot confess them or deviate from them will not be classified as true sons of Islam or in fact even serving Allah.

Say (O Muhammad): He is Allah, (the) One. Allah the Eternal Absolute [Allah- the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need]. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."

Now let's turn to one the basic pillars of Christianity.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Do you see any compatibility? Here it's saying that if you believe that God sent his only begotten Son you shall not perish but have everlasting life. Now if this is the case then it's just logical to conclude it's also saying that those who do not believe God sent his only begotten Son shall not have eternal life but rather shall perish.

How should someone from Islam approach this in light of the fact that John 3:16 was written hundreds of years before Mohammed was ever born? This is not an issue that should be lightly esteemed because it's clear from John 3:16 that ones's eternal salvation is at stake. Now if Christianity is wrong then there is nothing to fear, but what if, just what if those words in John 3:16 are indeed true. Where does that leave the Muslim who just died and spent his whole life, in fact maybe 5 times every single day of it protesting over and over that God has not begotten a son?

Chris
