An enemy of the USA (or other countries peacekeeping forces) just have to push some funds and armaments to some of the several hundred thousand potential bandits in the region..to enter Afghanistan and become "freedom fighters" and you have a real problem. The potential war material captures will be worth the risk. If you read up on some of those terrible warlords, you will see that's precisely what has happened in the past (one faction given funds/arms to fight other factions). Perhaps if treated with some respect they might show a better side? Anyway, Bush needs to sustain strong support from the USA and allies civilian populations.
