At the MST show in Tokyo this week (www.jasa.or.jp/mst) I saw a curious presentation. It was done by WindRiver Japan and it was about something called CDRM (some spin on CRM, I think it stood for Customer Device Relationship Managment, but I can't be sure). I could only stay for 10 minutes, so I didn't see all.

It seems to be something along the lines of building relationships between users of products and the manufacturers using the devices that are already networked. I have seen this kind of concept be promoted before by Whirlpool for the washing machines, and and have seen some companies, such as E-Sim, try to promote the technology to build these relationships. Perhaps a "WindRiver meets Siebel" type of scenario?

What I can't figure out is why WindRiver was presenting this stuff, and if they plan on providing some product offerings along these lines.

Any clues?
