Regardless, AMD started this fight. Intel went for the kill.

Now AMD can supply about 32-35% flat out, so Intel could add $200 to each CPU and so would AMD. In a few years they would both make a bundle

First off, that would smell of collusion. Next, AMD would never be happy with the low ASP market place. Intel is a juggernaut to compete against. You can't directly compete against Intel's offerings, you have to indirectly compete.
