Amein, since you are mentioning "need" as a moderator to the basic law. In Jewish religious law, there is a similar principle, all "laws" can be transgressed for "Hatsalat Neshamot" (saving of lifes or souls) except three "laws" for which the principle "Yehareg velo Yaavor" (namely, accept death, but do not break these three laws) applies (thus there is a hierarchy of "laws", if two are in conflict with each other, the hierarchy determines which to follow). Is there an equivalent hierarchy of commands in Islam? Zeev
