LOL! Doesn't exactly make one wish to run right out and pick up a case or two.

This is what the Wairau River winery had to say about thier latest offering. In direct contrast to your sophisticated review.

I don't do mutton and I don't drink and drive.

PS Thanks for the tip anyway. Think I will do a google search.

Tasting Notes

2000 Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc
The philosophy that we have been pursuing at Wairau River has always been one of elegance and fruit power with the foundation of the style being drinkability. We do not make wines to taste, we make them to enjoy both with and without food. To achieve this we put a lot of store in the selection of flavours in the vineyard, subsequent small batch vintning with the final touches of the marriage created at the blending table.
Marlborough enjoyed a typically long dry autumn in 2000 and as a result of a mid April harvest the fruit for this wine was in premium condition and beautifully balanced from a lower than normal cropping level. Ripe flavours abound and combined with varietal freshness and balanced acid this wine already shows great palate weight and drinkability.
Serve with a range of fine cuisine particularly shell fish or simply enjoy as an aperitif.
Cellar potential: two to three years.
